Basic Computer and Internet Class

We will be offering Free Basic Computer and Internet skills instruction, including email on Tuesday Dec. 17, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, at the Union Hall. Bring a notebook computer with you if you can. This class is for people who know very little or nothing at all about computers.

We will cover the basics of the computer and then after an orientation of the Internet browser, we will surf the web and then learn how to email. Everyone who attends the class should be able to leave with their own email address.

Obviously people who need this class will probably not read about this on the Internet so please pass the word around and if you would like to come by and help on Tuesday, it would be greatly appreciated.

We will also be teaching how to sell things on eBay and Craig’s List but we have not set a date for that class yet. We could also use some help teaching that class, which will also be free.

A lot of us have a lot of time on our hands and so this is a great time to get some new skills. We are also working on offering Financial Peace University classes. When we get that worked out we will post it here with details about cost, dates and times.

These classes are for IAM 735 member and their families.

Good luck to our committee. Stand strong and don't back down. We got your back. What ever yall decide we will go with. Becareful not to fall for any tricks or crap that is in there between the lines. This company has shown its true colors. Even if we go back it will never be the same. We definetly don't want that last offer they got on their website. I would rather work somewhere else than be a slave.

Attention Negotiating Committee: if they ever say something to the effect that "this is how it is in Dallas" then make sure that they know we would like Dallas pay at $27 to $32 per hour and their retirement multiplier ...somewhere in the sixties.. Let them mention the Dallas contract ...I think we would approve an exact duplicate of that contract with warts, 401 k and all... ask them if thats what they're offering if they try to push the 16 year thing. Also ask anyone from Dallas that may there what the Dallas local would do if offered our contract.... In reality we just want a fair shake. We're obviously easier to please than the Dallas Union. What gives? ASK THEM which Union is easier and cheaper to please. Then maybe they will realize they are treating their red headed step child a little rough.

Thanks TS1, this is what makes the union what it is; all of us pulling together.

Also one of our members, who has coordinated 5 Financial Peace 13-week workshops has offered to help us with our FPU Workshop, which will be coming up soon. We’re still working out the details.

Thank you TS1. We’ll see you Tuesday!

I have heard that there are some aircraft companies taking phone interviews for qualified skilled workers. Most of them are out of state but who knows maybe someone will find a job and the company actually might care about them.
