strike update

Thanks to everyone that has used our site to send letters to your elected Congresspersons and Senators. If you haven’t sent an email yet, please do so. Have your family, friends and relatives do so, also. It’s important, and it’s having an effect.

Congressman Bart Gordon has received the emails you’ve sent, and he’s talked with your IAM District 711 DBR George Mays, and has contacted Vought CEO Elmer Doty.

Congressman Gordon told DBR Mays that Vought was ready to meet at any time to restart negotiations. We, your negotiating committee, stand ready to meet any time and any place, and have also reached out and shared this information with Federal Mediation. We will keep you informed of any developments as they happen.

We got what we had asked for, A BIG'OL 401K. Yeah that is what I said "WHAT WE ASKED FOR". Make those with 16 years and less freeze @ $53 instead of $43. Get rid of the seniority and 40 hour language. Let's go back to freaking work.

Boeing Co. has avoided a possible second strike after 21,000 engineers and technical workers voted overwhelmingly to approve a new contract promising annual raises of up to 5%. In addition to pay and pension increases, the agreement also grants the Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace a consulting role in any future discussions over outsourcing.

Thank you to our committee for finally getting the ball rolling again. We, the people who elected you, want to continue to stand behind you. No one wants to be branded a SCAB for life. We want you to go back to the table and fight for what we deserve. We also want the guys from the international to fight with us and do whatever they need to do to help us bring this strike to a successful end. It is obvious that corporate Vought has a major grudge against the international for what happened in South Carolina. That has nothing to do with Local 735 and we do not want to be used as a pawn by this company to get even with this union. Every one involved with our negotiations needs to be focused on what our needs are. Thank Bart Gordon for enlightening Elmer Doty about the facts, some of which I am sure he knew some of which he may not have known. We should all be praying for everyone involved in this process. Stay strong. Keep the faith. Always remember God is in control and HE will never leave us in our time of despair. I am going to continue to be hopefully optimistic as we work through the process. To all of my brothers and sisters, I will continue to pray for you and your families as we head into this Christmas season. Pleasae try to remember what it is truly all about.

IAM LOCAL 735 STAND ONE DAY LONGER
To my brothers and sisters that have stood strong side by side you've made me proud. Lets stay strong a little longer. We all know that the company is hurting and we have been heard!!! Lets not give in! We have fought too long and hard now to give in. Brothers and sister for over 50 years have stood where we are today, fighting to get what we have and I be d##n if I give it up now!!! We don't give an inch, stand firm. We don't need to forget how this company has left us all out in the cold. My family and yours have sacrificed too much, for long enough! LOCAL 735 HOORAA!

WE STAND UNITED JUST LIKE SOLDIERS, FIGHTING THE FIGHT, STANDING TALL, OUR EFFORT BEING WORTH IT ALL!!!
(NO ONE LEFT BEHIND)

It's about time someone Kicked them into coming back to the table. My hope is that they will act like grown ups this time and talk things out like they should have all along. However I'm not holding my breath.

ok now that everybody is ready to talk, get off your arse and pick up a phone and call maxie or someone over there and set a day and time. As many as it takes. other wise this stalemate is going to continue while we all lose everything.

Thanks for letting us know about Congressman Gordan and the federal mediator. Any idea on a time line for resuming negotiations?

UNION DAY sounds good, international, teamsters union brother and sisters if the big 3 can come together than every union in the world need to, vought we need to have every company that is union contracted stop at the same time, week, day, month nobody scabing from plant to plant vought cant transfer work here and there ,thats why i say have a union day ,everyone enjoys labor day, so why not,if every union company struck at the same time you wont cripple a company you will kill it, the same thing vought is trying to do to the nashville plant, something to think about contract start and end day hope it is the same as the other union vought comopanys

I would like to thank everyone for their help during this strike. From negotiators, international, the communicator, and anyone else involved. To those that have brought wood, water, food, and anything else that has helped at the strike line I thank you! To see brothers and sisters reach out to help one another during strike is most impressive. To hear the stories of brothers and sisters giving money, clothes, canned goods, paying one anothers bills, or anything to help makes me proud to be part of LOCAL 735.
(STAND STRONG) this will end soon.

Great !!! Looks like the neg. committee will be meeting with the company on Dec. 12.You guys get in there and hash this stuff out. Let's get a good contract and go back to work. Company, we know you read our blog. Do not think we will accept anything that will cut jobs or take away seniority rights. Vought you should treat everyone that has worked for you for 25 -50 years very well, those folks have given you more than half their lives, they should be treated with respect. I hope we can resolve this dispute and get back to a normal functional life, maybe we can patch up our feelings and make things right again. Let's try !!!! God bless all of you.
