Here's the numbers

Yesterday’s company proposal was quite insulting to the members that have put in so many hours of hard work into making Vought Nashville a success.

Here’s the hard facts of their current proposal:

GWI’s:

2009 - $0.50

2010 - $0.25

2011 - $0.50

At a $20.4 average wage at Vought, that adds up to a raise of:

2009 – 2.5%

2010 – 1.2%

2011 – 2.5%

At the latest aerospace contracts, Cessna received a raise of 5%, 4%, and 4%. Hawker Beechcraft received a raise of 4%, 4% and 4%.

This offer is WAAAAY below industry standards.

COLA – no change in formula, and NO ROLL-IN of current COLA into the base rate.

Automatic Progression – No change. A ONE-TIME increase of $0.65, not to exceed the maximum of labor grade.

Shift Differential – No change.

Ratification Bonus - $1500.00

Pension – As you’ve heard, freezing pensions for all under 16 years. Increase multiplier from $43 to $48 for senior employees.

Health Care – New plans, but costs continue to rise - $108.34 dollars a month for single, or $25 a week, and $216.67 a month, or $50 a week for family. Also, the copay and other out-of-pocket expenses are too high. If you are only giving a fifty cent raise, the increased insurance costs will eat it up.

Spousal insurance – Demands that if your spouse has insurance at her place of work that pays at least 50% of the costs, you cannot put them on as a dependent.

Along with the pension, the company is still insisting on mandatory overtime.

This is the reality of the company proposals as it now stands.

Of course, your Committee feels this is far below what we deserve. Tell any manager that tries to tell you this is a good deal he’s putting lipstick on a pig!

You goota be kidding this is what they offered, Its sad it seems to me that vought wants to treat us like mcdonalds employees and its not right so I guess there will be a strike this week because even I with open sight and mind cant go for what they are offering while they continue to profit off of our backs.

Its seems to me that vought wants to make nashville like dallas but they are miss one large element they dont want to pay nashville like they pay dallas so that makes the comparison null and void, show us the money...

We want our pension's just like EVERYONE ELSE that pays union dues. Why would we settle for less? We also want our Medical back when we retire just like EVERYONE ELSE that has come before us. When we get older, we too will eventually get sick and need medical. Why is there a two tier system in this company? One for senior employees and one for junior employees! We are supposed to be ONE UNION not what benefits ONE GROUP. When is this company going to learn the junior workers will be the senior workers one day. Treat us equal and protect our futures as well. Don't mess with OUR PENSION and give us back our MEDICAL when we retire.

And to our negotiating committee, we are behind you 100%. Keep up the good work!

Its time to hit the streets. They are not taking us seriously. They don't care about us or our families. I'm going to say this over and over again until someone hears it. Someone needs to look closely at the "spouse rule" on the insurance. This is completely unfair. The married people this effects are being punished. They are being punished for having a two income household. They are being charged twice the premium as the single people, the married people who both work at Vought, or the married people whose spouses do not work. Its WRONG, WRONG, WRONG to punish someone for being married and having a second full time income. We should be able to carry our spouse on our insurance with full coverage so we don't have to pay double. With the "spouse rule" we are forced to carry two policies from two companies. Whats next, a demand for independant insurance for children, not offered by the company we work for.
