A tentative deal has been reached in the Boeing strike. They stood strong and got a good contract.

Company should research the situation with skilled and talented aerospace workers becoming rare. Even the government has studied the shortage. With a huge percentage ready to retire it's going to get worst. I guess LTV, I mean Vought places little value on "skilled and talented". Skilled bankruptcy attorneys are plentiful. This strike may be an excuse for them to file so they can dodge some bills. They have some kind of big angle that's not obviuos.

Breaking news......probably 4 hours ago. Boeing and IAM Negotiating Team, reach tenitive agreement! Team gives unaminus approval! So NOW, Voughts Nashville Web Site will need updateing, and even better, come to their senses and start bargaing in good faith, with constructive proposals, for both sides! SAY GOODBYE TO THE SCABY SCABS!

Skilled IAM 735 Worker....again

How are the scab workers doing the job ? How many units have been shipped while we have been on the picket lines ? How much scrap has been created ? How are the customers doing without the parts and assemblies ? These are important questions. We need to know the answer. The answer to these questions indicates the progress we are making by being on strike. Union leaders should have the answers.

I am so proud to be associated with each and every union member!! The way everyone has pulled together is such an inspiration.

Like has been said in a TON of other comments: DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!! That is all Vought's statement on the 26th was. They did have one section in there that if for some REALLY odd reason isn't hype has me scared to death. These scabs have a "learning curve" DO WHAT?? That would be like going to have surgery without a very qualified surgeon overseeing it. "Well I have never done a heart transplant before but since I have this learning curve I will give it a go." I say that mainly in jest but in reality- that learning curve could be potentially quite dangerous.

Of course, Vought will say that they have the supervisors in there "overseeing" the scabs. But we all know that the supervisors come to US with questions and problems. It is US who knows how to fix the mistakes or better yet, totally avoid them. The same goes for the engineers they have brought in. Sure they can put all their little numbers down on a piece of paper but that does not make them RIGHT. Until it is applied hands on by QUALIFIED employees you have no way of knowing if your theory is going to work.

Well, its been a month now...
I'm not sure how the company is able to lie to us the way they have been. Either they are lieing now or they were lieing to us when we were in there working and telling us how we were so far behind that the customers were in jepodary of laying off its employees because we couldn't support their line. Now I hear Gulfstream is in fact laying off because they have no wings. I also hope the company has calculated the weeks that will be lost once we do return. Simply trying to replace and find all our "shop-aids", tools, templates etc....

I'm surviving surprisingly well and in fact have a great amount of support from my working spouse.
She says I work so hard I needed a break. (I just wish I had the funds to do some home improvements). I have also taken advantage of the payflex account and encourage EVERYONE that has it to look around the house for those insurance, and doctor statements. I have turned in almost $2000 worth of expenses and the reinbursement came in very handy.
I know this is a hard time for all of us. I hope everyone is doing what it takes to hold on and I wish the best for your families. This can be very taxing on the relationship with your families so keep those relationships healthy.
Wether it is family pitching in financially or providing shelter, day-care or what ever.Make sure they know how much we appreciate their support. And lastly to the scabs, SHAME ON YOU!!! There is even one scab that had the gall to go on local news on day one and lie to the whole city by telling us how prepared she was. She had worked a bunch of overtime and was ready to fight with her brothers and sisters to the end. I guess she didn't change her lifestyle while she was walking the picket line so she had a change of heart. There are others on GIV that even though they worked on the product if left alone long enough will scrap a wing.
I also wanted to post a few quotes for everyone.

POVERTY: Poverty is uncomfortable; but 9 out of 10 times the best thing that can happen to a young man is to be tossed overboard and be compelled to sink or swim.
JAMES A GARFIELD

PRACTICE: Practice doesn't necessarily make perfect-it just makes permanent. You have to practice doing something RIGHT in order to make it perfect.

RISK: Why NOT go out on a limb? Isn't that where the fruit is?

You guys are doing an awesome job! I came by Monday morning and stood in the freezing cold with my boyfriend just to show my support. That's hard work! Got a few good pictures of scabs while I was there. Thanks guys for pointing them out for me! I can share if anyone wants to see them.Hopefully Vought will come to their senses and you guys will be back at work soon. Just know that you are supported and admired by some of us "corporate slaves" because we dont have a choice. We just have to bend over and take it like good girls and boys. Stand strong.
